Guantanamo and Common Sense

Guantanamo and Common Sense

Much of the rhetoric over the past few years has been concerning the closing of  the Guantanamo base in Cuba. The left and lame stream media has sent out a constant barrage of nonsense concerning the torture of prisoners at Gitmo and how the image of America torturing prisoners  is hurting America.

The left wants the terrorists being held in Gitmo brought to the United States and tried in our courts. This is absurd! Can you imagine trying these animals in US courts and having a Johnny Cochran type get them off on a technicality? They would then be set free to roam the streets of America, how would that effect our image across the world, not to mention our national security?

According to American officials and Department of Defense documents two of the four leaders behind the al Qaeda plot to blow up a Northwest Airlines passenger jet over Detroit on Christmas Day were alumni of Gitmo.

Terror suspects released from Guantanamo now front Yemen al-Qaeda groups.
Guantanamo prisoner #333, Muhamad Attik al-Harbi, and prisoner #372, Said Ali Shari, were sent to Saudi Arabia on Nov. 9, 2007, according to the Defense Department log of detainees who were released from American custody. Al-Harbi has since changed his name to Muhamad al-Awfi.

American officials agreed to send the two terrorists from Guantanamo to Saudi Arabia, where they entered into an "art therapy rehabilitation and advanced terrorists studies program" and were set free, according to U.S. and Saudi officials. (Guess they went from studying water boarding to water coloring.)

Since graduating with honors from the Saudi program both Saudi nationals have emerged as leaders in Yemen. Both of the former Guantanamo detainees are described as military commanders and appear on a January, 2009 video along with the man described as the top leader of al Qaeda in Yemen, Abu Basir Naser al-Wahishi, formerly Osama bin Laden's personal secretary.

In a statement released Monday, Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attempted bombing and called Abdulmutallab, the perpetrator , a hero and martyr for beating U.S. intelligence. I guess the left can have faulty unused intelligence as well.

The statement calls for further attacks on Americans as well as boasting of Al Qaeda's success in developing advanced explosive devices that can pass undetected through airport security.

It is absurd to even think of closing Gitmo, the prisoners there are not fit to be released anywhere in the world and as has been often demonstrated are a real threat to all of mankind. When are our elected officials going to wake up and realize what is going on, when is the left and the lame stream media going to quit playing politics with our national security.

When is Obama going to wake up, when is he going to place America's interests ahead of the leftists in this world?

Not as long as he makes statements to the fact the Cambridge police acted stupidly as he stated when his friend  Professor Gates confronted the Police in Boston and then  turns around after a Muslin terrorist shoots up an Army base and makes the statement that we shouldn't jump to conclusions. I'm not going to call him a Muslin sympathizer, however it is pretty clear where his priorities are.
