Have the Democrats no Morals?
Mr. Kilpatrick , mayor or Detroit had been ordered to wear an electronic tether and stay in a 3 county area because of pending assault and perjury charges.
The honorable mayor, who previously violated his bond by traveling outside the country, spent a night in jail. Judge Leonard Townsend called the punishment "silly and unwarranted."
“The defendant may go to the Democratic National Convention,” Judge Townsend said during an arraignment for the mayor. “I don’t think the people of the city of Detroit should be represented by a person wearing prison clothes or wearing a tether.”
Mr. Kilpatrick is a Democrat who has pledged his support to the party’s presumptive presidential nominee, Barrack Obama of Illinois.(another one of Obama's upstanding supporters.)
Of course the far left think nothing of this type of behavior, to them it is perfectly normal.
With this kind of behavior from our elected officials, how can we expect our youth to act any differently?
Though the mayor’s lawyers have argued against the travel restrictions that were imposed on him, it was Judge Townsend who brought up the idea that Mr. Kilpatrick should be able to attend the convention in Denver.
I'm sure if he went to the convention, he would be praised as some sort of hero/victim.
Mayor Kilpatrick and his former Chief of Staff were involved an an alleged affair, which they both denied in testimony in a police whistle blower lawsuit. Their testimony was later found to be not true, according to text messages. She is charged with seven felonies.
Several charges have resulted from this incident, leading to calls for his resignation, which he has refused.
The only official with the clear power to remove Mr. Kilpatrick is Gov. Jennifer Granholm, who has scheduled a hearing Sept. 3 to decide whether to take such action.
Governor Granholm, a Democrat, said Thursday that Mr. Kilpatrick’s legal team has inquired about a pardon or immunity if he testifies at the hearing and that she planned to respond later in the day.
“This has got to be resolved,” she told reporters at an automotive industry convention in northern Michigan. “This has been very, very difficult for the city and for the state. It’s obvious why we need a resolution.”

It will be interesting to see how this is resolved, will it be resolved in a ethical manner, or will it be politics as usual, the same politics that have left Detroit and Michigan laying in ruin?
